The UK government is focussing efforts to build Data Centre infrastructure needed to support growth in AI technologies across the UK. AI Growth Zones are planned to unlock investment in AI-enabled data centres by improving access to power and providing planning support.
This will help drive innovation, create high-skilled jobs, and strengthen the UK’s position as a leader in AI.
Dumfries and Galloway council proposed that a site at Eastriggs would become a candidate location for a proposed AI growth zone and commissioned FarrPoint to assist in assessing a number of enabling criteria for their application:
FarrPoint analysed the requirements, identified gaps, and provided a focused assessment for meeting the connectivity standards required to bring the data centre vision to life at Eastriggs.
FarrPoint’s data centre connectivity assessment enabled Dumfries and Galloway Council to develop a clear understanding of the digital connectivity available at Eastriggs, helping to build the business case for Eastriggs as a location for an AI Growth Zone.
