Meet a FarrPointer - Chrissie Muir

In the next edition of the Meet a FarrPointer series, we’re catching up with Chrissie, who has joined FarrPoint as a Project and Marketing Assistant. She shares what she’s enjoying most about the role, her biggest adventure to date, and why the Scottish Highlands will always have her heart.

A quick Q&A chat with Chrissie Muir, Project and Marketing Assistant at FarrPoint.

1. You recently joined FarrPoint as a Project and Marketing Assistant. What has been your favourite part of the role so far?

I have really enjoyed gaining insight into FarrPoint’s work. Some of the technical elements were new to me, so it has been fascinating to learn how it all comes together. At the same time, I’ve been able to apply things I’ve learned in previous roles and contribute to such a talented and passionate team. Everyone brings so much knowledge and energy, and it’s great to be part of a group working towards the same goals, especially when you can see how communities can benefit from what FarrPoint delivers.

2. What’s a fun fact about you that most people at FarrPoint might not know?

I can make baskets! Using willow, I cut them to make the frames and use finer parts to weave (basic) patterns. It’s relaxing and you are rewarded with a new way to store your trinkets.

3. What skill or mindset do you think is most important in your role?

Definitely having an open mind. My role is really varied, and I work with a lot of different people across many projects, so it’s important to be adaptable and absorb new things quickly. Confidence also goes hand in hand with that. Everyone brings their own strengths, and if you hold back, you are not only doing yourself a disservice but also the team.

4. Where is your favourite place in the world, and why?

Although it may not seem exotic, the Scottish Highlands, particularly my home village, will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many countries, but the Highlands always come out on top. I love exploring the mountains with my dog and breathing in the fresh air, it’s the perfect way to relax. And the best part—it’s free!

5. What’s been the biggest adventure of your life so far? Would you do it again?

Just after the COVID pandemic, I quit my job and went to Portugal, where I lived in a caravan and volunteered at an animal rescue centre. We cared for stray and abused dogs, as well as birds and cats that needed rehabilitation. It was a truly rewarding experience, working with amazing people, enjoying incredible food, and travelling through different parts of Portugal. I would definitely do it again, maybe just in a different country next time to see something new!

6. With your background in copywriting, what’s the most interesting topic or campaign you’ve worked on?

AI was by far the most interesting. I started writing about it before it had the big buzz it has now and then continued as things really took off. I had a client who was developing AI tools, so I got to write about them as they were being created, and I could see firsthand how quickly things were evolving. I was educating them on how the technology worked while also convincing them that it’s not just a gimmick.

The challenge was to communicate it in a way that made it accessible, showcasing the potential without making it feel intimidating. It was exciting, but also bittersweet as I saw how AI was taking the place of talented, passionate writers.

7. How would you describe yourself in one word?

I would say I'm a freethinker. I try and stay true to what I truly feel about something, not how I think I should feel about it. It's tricky sometimes to not be influenced by external factors, but I find it can introduce a different perspective in both personal and professional settings.

8. You did an internship at FarrPoint back in 2019. What’s changed at the company since then, and what has stayed the same?

I’ve changed a lot personally and professionally since then, so it’s been interesting to come back with a new outlook. FarrPoint has expanded into various industries, and while the team has grown and welcomed new members, many familiar faces have remained. What hasn’t changed is the ambition, the passion, and the supportive culture. It is nice to see that the core spirit remains intact.

9. What would you choose as your last meal?

Definitely spareribs! Even though I no longer eat meat, they used to be my favourite, and at least I wouldn’t have to live with the guilt for very long if it was my last meal!

10. Who would you like to nominate for the next interview?

Alex Innes
