Backgound

FarrPoint was commissioned to assess cellular coverage across Prince Edward Island (PEI) in Canada. Using a combination of desktop analysis and field surveys, the study identified gaps in cellular service and provided practical recommendations to improve connectivity across the province.

While coverage in urban and high-density areas is generally reliable, rural and remote communities often experience significant gaps in service. These gaps can impact everything from economic development and tourism to public safety and digital inclusion. However, without an independent, data-evidenced view of current cellular infrastructure performance, it wasn’t easy to prioritise investment or engage meaningfully with network operators.

FarrPoint was engaged to provide a clear picture of where service deficiencies existed, why they were occurring, and what could be done to address them in a cost-effective and technically feasible way.

Farrpoint’s analysis has provided a clear picture of where the cellular coverage gaps exist across the Province. The information gained through this project will help the government make informed decisions towards investment and improving cellular connectivity across Prince Edward Island.
