Telecoms providers (like BT, Virgin Media, Sky & TalkTalk) are decommissioning their analogue services and are moving to fully digital networks across the whole of the UK. This means that analogue phone lines in residential and business premises are being replaced by digital equivalents. For businesses, this transition may mean you need to upgrade existing systems such as telephone lines, alarms, lift alarms and payment machines.
The transition has already started and is set to be fully completed by January 2027. For most SMEs and non-complex telephony cases, this deadline may be sooner. If you missed one of our webinars that we ran in 2025, you can watch a recording below and download the guide.
You can also download the free guide, Preparing Your Business for the Digital Switchover and 2G/3G Switch-offs. Tailored for businesses in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, this guide explains what the switchover means, how it could affect your systems, and how to prepare with minimal disruption.

If you are a business in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area and have any questions about the Digital Switchcover, please get in touch with the (this will open in a new window)Connecting Cambridgeshire team.
