The Scottish Government, the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA), and the Digital Office for Scottish Local Government commissioned FarrPoint to provide a comprehensive analysis of Scotland’s telecare services.
20th November 2024
This review delivers critical insights into the current state of telecare across Scotland, with a scope extending to all local authorities, Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs), and the housing sector.
The review builds on previous studies and surveys by collecting data from 32 Scottish Local Authorities / HSCPs, and housing providers. Through a mix of questionnaires and in-depth interviews, the report compiles information on service delivery, staffing, and data use in telecare and provides an overview of the technological landscape.
This study expands the view of Scotland’s telecare services by incorporating housing sector data for the first time, offering a more complete picture of telecare delivery across the country.
The study collected a large amount of data on telecare services and how they are delivered, noting that there are 141,918 telecare service users in Scotland .
The figures below provide a summary of some of the key findings of the Landscape review.
This comprehensive review provides a detailed understanding of current telecare services in Scotland, and the people and processes used to deliver them. This provides a baseline which telecare service providers and policymakers can use to plan service developments and transformational change in the sector.
